China is the country in the world that has the largest share of export of fireworks in relation to the gross national products.
Manufacturing fireworks today in Sweden is a financial impossibility but as lately as a few years ago a lot of Smålands Krutbruk’s consumer fireworks were produced in the company’s own facilities in Braås but today, most of the production is on subcontract in south China.
China is a country in transformation that means that living costs and prices are increasing. Nowadays the company management and the workers are free Saturdays and Sundays and holidays are granted for certain types of employment.
At our fireworks factory the employees must be at least 18 years of age but there are also trainees just like in Sweden. Practical accommodation near the factory makes it attractive to work in a Chinese fireworks factory and it is relatively well paid at about 500 kronor a month compared to about 1000 kronor per year for a private rice farmer in the country.
Our factories are quality factories with functioning manufacturing processes and control organizations. It is rare or seldom that the fireworks do not work and the error percent is not larger than if they had been manufactured in Sweden or in factories in Europe.
Småland’s Krutbruk is pleased that everything works in the way that it does and two control visits per year to the factory are sufficient to guarantee that the deliveries to Sweden will take place as planned.
